European Defence Force

At the South West Regional forum the issue was raised and hotly contested over the European Defence Force. This all took part during the Human Rights debate and the main issue of contention was loosely as follows:-

Is the European Defence Force simply a policing force for American actions at a time of war, such as in Iraq and is it right we take on this role?

Before giving away too much of what was said during the debate I'd like to hear other members' thoughts on the issue.
